Filetonic Flitters Over to Twitter
Follow us on Twitter
Like many of our contemporaries, Filetonic has been eyeing Twitter from afar. That changed last week when we flapped our wings and joined the flock. We are now happily tweeting and interacting with the Twitter community.
Twitter is one of a new breed of social networking, often referred to as microblogging. Tweets are limited to just 140 characters, making for short snippets of information. What’s neat about Twitter is that you can follow the activities, news, and musings of your favorite celebrities, friends, family members, and companies without having to visit multiple blogs. Likewise, you can send tweets to your own Twitter followers. The short and to-the-point nature of tweeting allows you to quickly filter through information, picking and choosing the tweets that interest you the most.
Why Follow Filetonic on Twitter?
Filetonic specializes in helping our readers tackle their computer problems. We deal with computer problems of all types including: error messages, file extensions, startup errors, performance problems, virus and spyware infections, printer errors, preventing spam, privacy issues, registry tweaks, DLL errors, hardware problems, software errors, and more.
Follow us on Twitter and you may see us solving a computer problem that is affecting your computer or find a cool new tech tool that enhances your computing experience.
In addition, as we come across information and outages that are affecting the computer world, we will tweet about them. For example, the other night Google Document users were blocked from accessing their documents with an ominous warning saying that their query was similar to that of malware. We tweeted the following:
Can’t get into Google Docs? Looks like an IE glitch: http://tinyurl.com/cgf6ln Hopefully this will be resolved soon. Try using Firefox.
Because of tweets like this, affected users were able to relax knowing that their computers weren’t infected despite the dire warning message. In addition, they were given a link to follow for more information along with advice for what to do in the meantime.
Questions about Twitter?
Another reason why Filetonic has signed up for a Twitter account is that we want to be able to answer your questions about Twitter-related computer problems. Desktop clients have been introduced for use with Twitter, many still in beta release form. In addition, a few security vulnerabilities have been discovered with the Twitter network as evidenced by the Mikeyy worm that spread through Twitter earlier this month. We will be testing Twitter clients and sharing information for staying secure and using Twitter safely.
