If you’ve lost any type of file, image or email then try this
free data recovery scanner to see what can be recovered.
This is a very handy tool.

Hi Elaine, On the advanced screen within the interface, make sure all scan options are selected (Areas to Scan include recycle bin, unnamed files, bad sectors and old partitions) and also ensure that all drive options are selected as well. If you have any external devices such as an external drive or anything connected through usb etc. then ensure those options, if any are selected as well.

Next, if you are sure about the file name then enter it into the text search box on the bottom of the advanced screen.

Now click the Green button titles “Start scan”. If your file is recoverable this should do it.

    Hope this helps!

I have lost my data on one of my partition (hard drive), can I recover the lost data, EVEN formatted ?

  6. 006   Celeste Stewart

Yes, data is often recoverable after a format of the partition or the entire media device for that matter. Try the free scan and see what Paretologic Data Recovery can find.

    pro version: http://www.paretologic.com/products/datarecovery/pro/index.aspx

Imagine a book with a table of contents. Remove the table of contents only. Is the rest of the book still readable? Yes! Maybe not quite as easy to find what you want but the underlying info is there.

Formatting drives basically removes the table of contents that Windows uses to see what is inside the book. THe contents are still there but without the table of contents, Windows doesn’t realize this. Data recovery programs bypass the table of contents and go directly to the pages - so if the table of contents is missing, it doesn’t really matter.

The Paretologic data recovery scans will show you what is recoverable but you will need to purchase the full version of the software to actually perform the recovery. Either way, you win. If the data is unrecoverable, you don’t pay. If it is, you can decide if the contents of your drive are worth the small price of the recovery software.

I am currently running the Data Recovery Pro software and it appears to be very effective. I would like to know the price so I can break the bad news to my sister-inlaw. Thanks for your help.

  8. 008   Celeste Stewart

    Hi Jeff,
    It’s currently $49.95

    http://www.paretologic.com/safecart/order/datarecovery/pro/

The standard Data Recovery product is $39.95 but has fewer options. You may want to compare both products to see if the Pro version is necessary or not.

When I clicked on the green download button above, I got an error message that told me that the page cannot be displayed. Is there a problem with the link?

  10. 010   Celeste Stewart

Hmmn, it worked for me… a pop up box should appear prompting you to Run, Save, or Cancel.

I was able to download the scanner, but when I ran the program, I don’t think it looked at the flash drive that I have plugged in (i.e. all files that were recoverable were on the C: drive). How do I get the program to scan the flash drive (drive E:)?

  12. 012   Celeste Stewart

As long as it’s a lettered drive such as Drive E, then the scanner should scan it. You may need to go into the Advanced Scan section (depending on which scanner you are using)in order to scan the USB flash drive. For example, with Data Recover, your flash drive should show up under your C drive with a check box where you can select it for scanning.

  13. 013   Travis Auxier

The scanner does not recognize the flash drive even though the it is lettered (it’s Drive E on my computer).

  14. 014   Celeste Stewart

Did you go Advanced? Do you see your hard drive? Underneath, you should see the E drive. Try plugging in the USB Flash drive before launching Data Recovery. Then go to Advanced. It should show up though you may need to place a checkmark in the box next to it. Also, look under Unmounted Media and see if it shows up there.

Your scanner did not pick up the USB connection to my Motorola Razr Cellphone. It doesn’t show up in My Computer either and I was wondering if data retrieval is possible.
