XLC File Extension Description

The file format XLC is a unique file employed by Microsoft, and specifically created for charting processes under Microsoft Excel. The .xlc file extension is a compilation of processes and procedure call functions to allow the proper and correct display of charts in a Microsoft Excel File, as well as integrate them smoothly into other Microsoft and third party programs, as applicable. The .xlc file type is also encoded with the different logical and conditional types that wait for values to be inputted by the user in the main application running a chart procedure.

The .xlc file format may also be saved in another file format, with the .xls extension, which includes the generated chart that contains the corresponding values and spreadsheet information.

The user of the Microsoft Excel application needs to access the chart drawing menu and input the necessary information for the creation of the chart itself. Some of the information required includes Fields, Axes, Values, Data Arrays, Conditions, and Chart Type. These are then inputted into the .xlc file format protocol and the appropriate generation follows. The limitation of the charting procedure is that as long as the necessary field is inputted with data, and that the data type of that specific field has been satisfied, the generated chart will not necessarily reflect the correct output. Being a simple condition-based file type, the XLC format follows simple logic only.

It also supports the rendition of both 2d and 3D chart types from the usual X-Y line graph to the more in-depth and visual bar and Pie graphs. In addition, the .xlc file format has the capability to superimpose and create multiple instances of charts with different data, and overlays them one over the other in the spreadsheet. This is practically helpful for presentations that need a much more direct and detailed comparison of two or more data arrays for evaluation.
