WPS File Extension Description

WPS File Extension types are used primarily by Microsoft in their Microsoft Works application. MS Works is the older and more limited version of MS Office. MS Works offers a Word processor along with spreadsheet and database functionality.

If you have a file with the .WPS file extension then you will need to have one of the supported applications on your computer in order to open, view or edit these .WPS files.

.WPS File Supported Programs

Document file type applications supporting the .WPS file format include: Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office, Open Office, Kingsoft Office.

As a binary file type, .WPS file extensions are supported by Rockbox and as a game file type WPS files are supported by Painkiller Overdose.

If .WPS files wont open on your computer then follow these steps:

1. Begin by making sure you have one of the programs above installed. If you do and .WPS files still wont open then proceed to step two below.
2. Make sure Windows is set to open .WPS files with the appropriate program. The easiest way to do this is to download Filecure and then select the manage tab on the left. This feature is available free in the Filecure application.
3. If the problem persists then download Filecure if you haven't already, and Click the big green "Start Scan" Button. It takes about 30 seconds to scan your computer for all file extension associations. Once the scan is finished you will see if any problems are detected. If so then Click the Green "Fix Now" Button.
4. Try to open your .WPS File again, The problem should be fixed.
