UC2 File Extension Description

compressed archives use the file extension .uc2. The UC2 file extension was developed by the AIPNL (Ad Infinitum programs ? NL) company. It was created for the UltraCompressor 2.3 program.

UltraCompressor 2.3 was developed to act as an alternative to the then popular PKZIP application. The main feature of the application is its ability to create large archives. This means that compressed archives with the UC2 file extension can hold almost 1 million files.

Other compression utilities can store an archive in a number of floppy disks. An archive created by the UltraCompressor can only be saved in one area. The UltraCompressor program has an additional utility called UC2SEA that can convert archives with the .uc2 file extension.

The UltraCompressor 2.3 application has a built in Damage Protection feature. This means that if data is lost from the files with the UC2 file extension, it can still be recovered. Archives that can hold multiple versions of a single file use the file extension .uc2.

The program was developed originally for the DOS system. Recent versions can run on DOS, Windows 95 and OS/2. The OS/2 is an operating system created by Microsoft and IBM. It was designed to act as a safe mode version of DOS. There are few programs that can run on the system, which makes UltraCompressor 2.3 unique.

Aside from the UltraCompressor program, the UltraExpander can also open files with the UC2 file extension. This application is a free utility included in the download of the UltraCompressor application. Its main purpose is to open archives created with the UltraCompressor.

Aside from the UltraExpander, there are other utilities included in the download of the UltraCompressor program. The Visual Ultra Compressor can access disks and archives to manage compression tasks. The UC2SEA utility can create automatic executables from archives created by the UltraCompressor. UCRYPT provides encryption. UCEXE can open DOS executable files and make their file size smaller. Version Manager checks the versions of files in an archive. UltraDIFF compares files to check for data loss.
