TV File Extension Description

Paradox is a database management program that uses the file extension .tv. Files with the TV file extension are the settings to view tables in the Paradox application.

The Paradox application was developed by Ansa Software for computers that run on the DOS system. It is a relational database management system, which organizes data into tables. The DOS version of the program used its own language called Paradox Application Language or PAL. It was also used to create programs that could sort and filter data. It also developed the file extension .tv to hold table view settings.

The Borlan Software Corporation developed the earliest Windows version. Borlan used all the existing technology from Ansa, including the use of the TV file extension to save table view settings. All of the technology was later bought by the Corel Corporation to include in their Word Perfect programs.

Corel later launched the revamped program with the name Corel Paradox 8. The application still included all the features of the previous programs. This version also had a newer version of the pre-loaded files with the .tv file extension.

The TV file extension is used exclusively for the Paradox table view settings. Since data is stored in the Paradox by tables, users can choose how to view this information. The files with the TV file extension enable users to change the size of the table and the arrangement of columns and rows. The Table View Settings of Paradox also allows data to be filtered so it will only show the necessary data.

The user to a certain extent can also customize the file extension .tv. The existing Table View Settings cannot be changed too much but the user can save their own settings. Since the Paradox program can be used to create databases and management systems, customized Table View Settings can be added into the resulting forms.

The Object-Oriented Paradox Application Language native to the recent versions of the Paradox program can be used to make customizations in the table view settings.
