RSC File Extension Description

The RSC file extension stores an array of icons, dialog boxes, menus, binary data, and tables. The specific data comprising files with the .rsc file extension are loaded at runtime. The RSC file extensions are comprised of OBJECT trees, images, and strings.

Files with the .rsc file extension start with a header containing field names. Among these field names are rsh_versn, rsh_object, rsh_iconblk, rsh_bitblk, rsh_tedinfo, rsh_frstr, rsh_imdata, rsh_string, rsh_frimg, rsh_nobs, rhs_rssize, rsh_ntree, and rsh_trindex. Many of these header entries signify offsets from the start of the file.

Files with the .rsc file extension are comprised of object trees separated using the LONG array directed by the rsh_trindex field name. The number of objects in an RSC file extension is indicated by the rsh_nobs field name while the number of object trees in files with the RSC file extension is identified by the rsh_ntree field name.

Files with the .rsc file extension store indicators for TEDINFO, ICONBLK, and BITBLK as conclusive indexes in the group of these members already stored in the RSC file extension. An extension array is included next to the old resource information. The first item in this array is a LONG comprising the real size of the resource file.
