the GAMBIT program from Fluent Inc uses the file extension NEU. The program deals with a branch of fluid mechanics called computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The process computations and algorithms to manipulate and study the way a liquid flows.

The GAMBIT program uses the file extension .neu to save control files. The application allows users to import images created from computer aided drawing software. Formats from several programs are supported such as Autodesk and Inventor. The program then uses tools to extract the fluid information from these files. MENSI 3D Lasers were able to scan objects from the ground and save them with the .neu file extension. This software is used with special sensors and cameras to capture the image. Files with the file extension NEU contained three-dimensional images of buildings. These images were taken from ground level. Trimble uses this technology to incorporate files with the NEU file extension to imaging and positioning programs.

Files with the .neu file extension contained accurate positioning information. These 3-D images are then used with data collected from satellites to create accurate simulations of a geospatial area. Programs from Trimble allow users to present accurate three-dimensional images that represent a space. The programs also rely on information from Global Positioning Systems for a high accuracy rate.
