File Extension DB

(TIP!) Click here to run a Free Scan for easy-to-fix errors that may prevent DB files from opening on your PC!

DB File Extension Description

DB files are attached to the Windows XP thumbnail database file. This file type is often hidden. It is also classified as a system file.

The file extension .db is often used with the file name Thumbs. This file is used if the program chooses to view graphic files such as thumbnails.

Once this is achieved, the collection of thumbnails is stored with the .db file extension. If the thumbnail database file is deleted, the system creates a new one. The thumbnail database file is stored with the graphic images folder. It allows users to activate the view as thumbnails option faster.

Programs that Use .DB Type Files

Mozilla Firefox uses the DB file extension. Firefox is an Internet browser that uses the .db file extension for its client certificates and security modules.

To make sure that web pages are secure and do not contain malicious software, they use certificates. The browser can recognize certificates. Collected certificates are stored in databases with the DB file extension.

Another program that uses the DB file extension is the ArcView program from ESRI. The program is used to gather geographical and mapping information. Information gathered is stored in a database with the file extension .db.

DIGIBooster also uses the file extension .db. The program was a tracker developed by Tap & Walt and INV. It was originally designed for the Amiga computer. Tracker programs create electronic music by using samples. The sample used by the applications can contain notes, vive or instruments. The DIGIBooster can also have special effects available, which can be used on the samples. A finished song or track is saved with the .db file extension. The program can further edit saved projects with the file extension .db. The tracker music project can also be converted to other formats by the application.

Products by ANSYS, Inc. also use the .db file extension for its databases. The company has data management systems, which rely on databases for storing information.
