The process wpctrl.exe is an executable file that launches WinPortrait. Also known as the PivotSoftware and plugin for PivotPro, WinPortrait is a desktop manipulation tool that allows users who have Pivot monitors to change and alter the display graphic or display image angles. It allows you to rotate and pivot your computer display from landscape to portrait orientation. It makes electronic mail, several types of documents, and web browsing easier to manage.
By simply right clicking on the desktop and sending a chain of commands, the wpctrl.exe process can pivot an image from landscape, portrait 90, presentation 180, and portrait 270. The landscape view is usually the standard display image orientation. It is how the applications are set to appear on the monitor. From this setting, the other Pivot orientations are derived.
The portrait 90 or the 90 degrees orientation is generally utilized for office use: e-mail, viewing web pages, forms, and word processing. However, it is also commonly used in the medical and legal field. For example, in viewing projected X-rays on screen without developing it on film. Also, it is used in looking at standard legal documents.
The presentation orientation or 180 degrees in the wpctrl.exe exe is often found in commercial displays. For example, it is used in advertising in museums, kiosks, airports, or other public areas. Usually, these are menu-driven multimedia that requires large displays that are either on several screens or flat plasma screen that provide data 24 hours a day.
The 270 degrees viewing option that the process wpctrl.exe provides is similar to portrait 90. However, while portrait 90 works on screens that project images clockwise, 270 degrees works on screens that projects data counter-clockwise.
The exe wpctrl.exe has a variety of file size, which depends on which Windows Operating System is used. It ranges from 540672 bytes to 808696 bytes in file size.
The file wpctrl.exe is developed by Portrait Studios, a developer of software for computer displays. Most of their works try to dramatically enhance the performance of graphic displays on several types of monitors such as LCD screens.
