The EXE wmplayer.exe is the main executable of Windows Media Player, a digital media player and library used for playing audio, video and viewing images. In addition, it can rip music from compact discs as well as burn music in recordable discs. It can also synchronize digital audio content such as MP3.
The default file format of the wmplayer.exe application is WPL, more popularly known as Windows Playlist. However, it also supports other file formats namely WMV, ASF, and WMA. The file is also able to utilize a digital rights management service in the form of Windows Media DRM.
On Windows XP, Windows Media Player has an Advanced Tag Editor, which allows you to add or edit the media information of the music file such as entering track, artist, picture information and comments.
