Description:

The vsmon.exe file is the True Vector Internet Monitor of ZoneAlarm; a firewall designed to protect the users DSL or cable Internet connection from hackers. The vsmon.exe process works for one of the two main features of ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm has two main features, namely; the SmartDefense Advisor and the True Vector Internet Monitor. The vsmon.exe process works for the second feature.

The ZoneAlarms SmartDefense Advisor helps the user in being aware of certain types of adware, spyware, and other malwares. This ZoneAlarm feature uses a big database of trusted program signatures, so it can provide effective advice whenever the user encountered a website that may cause harm to his computer. The SmartDefense Advisor denies access to certain websites that are listed in the ZoneAlarms large database of malicious sites. However, the user always has the option to manually tag a certain website as safe, in case it is included in the not-safe site database.

This SmartDefense Advisor uses other executable files since the vsmon.exe process is just used for the ZoneAlarm True Vector Internet Monitor. The vsmon.exe files function for this feature is to act as the core service function of the ZoneAlarm. The vsmon.exe file also belongs to the Windows service, and is given effective protection by the Microsoft Windows operating system. That is why the vsmon.exe process is very difficult to disable.

The vsmon.exe file hinders programs from connecting to the Internet. It also blocks and reduces the usage and functionality of malware that may require that program. The good thing about this is that the process file does not work secretly since it alerts the user upon the first attempt of the program to connect to the Internet. The vsmon.exe file also gives two options for the usereither to allow the program access, or to deny its attempt at connecting. Also, the vsmon.exe file prevents entry of suspiciously behaving files. This way, the ZoneAlarm with the vsmon.exe file, will not take any chances of allowing harmful files to destroy the users computer system.
