The vrmonnt.exe process is known as the virus scanning application for the ViRobot software. The vrmonnt.exe application is made available to users, in order for them to set the settings on their anti-virus software that will make the use of the anti-virus easier, and more convenient. One advantage of the vrmonnt.exe application is that the user will not be interrupted with his work when a scan or update is in progress, because he can set the scan or update to a time when he is not doing any work.

The user can set any type of scan thru the vrmonnt.exe application. Types of scans include quick and full. The quick scan performs scans for known viruses on the Windows folder and My Documents folder by default, but you can add other folders to be scanned on the scan list. On the vrmonnt.exe application, the user can change the settings for manual scan, like choosing specific folders to be scanned. The user performs manual scans. Real-time monitoring which is a feature of a ViRobot software checks if there are new viruses that wants to intrude your computer while you are working on something else. A prompt will appear if there are such threats to the computer.

Thru the vrmonnt.exe application, the user can also set advanced scan settings. Under the Advanced Scan settings, the user can set the settings for Compressed files, User Defined file types and Exclude Zone. Advanced scan settings lets the user choose specific file extensions to be included in a scan such as file extensions ACE, ALZ, ARC, JAR, CAB and the like.

The schedule of an update can also be set thru the vrmonnt.exe application. The scan can be performed in the background, or the scan window can be shown depending on the preference of the user. The vrmonnt.exe file has a registry entry found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run Vrmon.
