Description:

The uc.exe file is automatically installed in the computer system when users install the Sqwire Toolbar or the Xupiter Toolbar. The executable uc.exe is a variant of Sqwire or Xupiter Adware but it is deemed to be legal adware, since it is installed in the computer system with the knowledge and permission of the user. The file uc.exe is also known by its internal name, which is SQUpdates Checker. The process uc.exe enables the user to access updates whenever available.

The uc.exe process is a variant of the Sqwire or Xupiter Toolbar, which is a direct marketing application. It has the ability to generate pop up ads while the user is browsing the Internet. Aside from the uc.exe file, the Sqwire or Xupiter Toolbar will also install these other files for the application to work efficiently: ad.exe, cc.exe, m.dat, p.dat, s.dll, t.dll, tsl_rc0.dll, u.dll and wa.dll.

The following files are also added to complete the ActiveX control which will perform the complete installation of theSqwire or Xupiter Toolbar: sqinstaller.exe, sqloader.dll, sqloader.exe, sqloader.inf, sqwire.log, tsl_rc0_wrap.exe and uwa.exe. The Sqwire or Xupiter Toolbar also creates folders in the Favorites folder of the user, along with links to other web sites that may be helpful to the user, such as Entertainment, Finance, Free Stuff, Gambling, Internet, Shopping and many more, which will vary depending on the users browsing habits. The Sqwire or Xupiter Toolbar will monitor the browsing habits of the user by checking in every few days or so through the browser helper object when the user is connected to the Internet and the Internet Explorer is open.

Along with the uc.exe process and other files, the Xupiter or Sqwire Toollbar will also install a BHO or Browser Helper Object in Internet Explorer and the module u.dll will also be incorporated into the process explorer.exe. The Run Registry keys will also be set to start 2 of the executable files of the Sqwire or Xupiter Toolbar every time it boots.
