Description:

The process tcaudiag.exe is an MFC application thats described as a TouchDown application and was created by 3Com for its series of NIC products. The file is basically an executable application for Windows based on the Microsoft Foundation Class Library. Additionally, it has a known file size of 1,323,008 bytes on half of all instances on Windows XP.

Being an MFC Library application, the function of the file tcaudiag.exe is to wrap up portions of the Windows Application Programming Interface in C++ classes. This also includes the ability of the process tcaudiag.exe to use the default application framework of TouchDown. The tcaudiag.exe file focuses on the implementation of the standard structure of TouchDown, especially the Diagnostics graphical user interface for the Windows operating system.

The file tcaudiag.exe is also responsible for the installation of several 3Com NICs. The NIC, or Network Interface Card, is a piece of computer hardware designed to allow smooth communication over a network. In the simplest terms, the specified hardware is used for Local Area Network connections. The 3Com LAN Monitor is included upon the installation of the NIC and is implemented by the tcaudiag.exe process. This tool is used for the Diagnostic of the hardware.

The Diagnostic function is used to display and change the 3Com NIC configuration settings. The file provides several options, such as Network Driver Optimization, Full Duplex, Boot PROM, Media Type, and Pace -- all of which are accompanied by user-adjustable settings.

There are two other files that employ the file tcaudiag.exe, namely, the Ethernet and the TCASUTIEXE. Both of these are also from 3Com, and have functions that are also similar to that of the tcaudiag.exe process. The tcaudiag.exe process preloads during Windows startup, through the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run registry entry.
