Description:
The taskbaricon.exe process is one of the file driver components of Wanadoo ISP that allows the user to change the configurations and settings of the Internet connection provided by the company. The taskbaricon.exe file is included in the installer for the Internet device (modem).
At current, Wanadoo is now known as Orange UK and provides the same services, such as Internet connection, mobile services, and more.
The taskbaricon.exe process will be included in the Windows operating startup group and will place a shortcut icon on the system tray found in the taskbar. The icon will indicate that the application active in the background is monitoring the Internet connection in the system.
Aside from monitoring functions, the taskbaricon.exe will enable users to change the settings and configuration of the Internet connection and the device that provides it. Clicking on the icon will bring up a user interface that will change various settings, like the IP address, DHCP, DNS, gateways, and so on. The user can also disable the Internet connection via user interface and can manually enable it, if necessary.
The taskbaricon.exe process has a startup registry value under the locale HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run\ in the Windows platform.
The process is known to be used by Windows 9x (98, 98 Second Edition), ME, and 2000. Newer versions of Windows such as XP, 2003, and Vista have built-in functions that allow it to automatically detect and synchronize with the modem.
