Description:

The process smartctr.exe is called SmartCenter, a Lotus central application, which runs on the Windows desktop. The SmartCenter toolbar traverses the top, or the bottom part of the screen. As with the Microsoft Office Toolbar, this toolbar sits at the top of your screen and gives you access to all the programs in the SmartSuite office suite. As with the Microsoft Office Toolbar, you can customize this one to include non-Lotus programs.

If SmartSuite was installed using the default options, the smartctr.exe files dictionary is only available when the installer CD-ROM is running. If you wish to run the dictionary files, run the installation CD and install Smart Center. To customize SmartSuites features, click on the customize tab within the smart center application interface. Check the dictionary option and click on OK.

Most of the smartctr.exe files programs are able to read and write the relavent files from Microsoft Office. The process smartctr.exe runs on maintenance mode, and is supported by fixpacks and fixes on Windows XP and 2000. IBM does not formally support SmartSuite on the Windows Vista operating system, but works with the Vista 32 bit version, if the applications and the installer run in XP compatibility mode (this is not necessary in order to run or install Organizer 6). IBM does not have any plans of releasing specific versions of Organizer or Smart suite, compatible with Vista.
