Description:

The program sm1nint.exe functions as a notification icon application dropped upon installation of the Cypress USB Mass Storage Driver. The sm1nint.exe file is an icon that acts as tray notification for Cypress base removable flash memory (stable computer memory that can be electronically deleted and reprogrammed) card formats called memory sticks and devices such as magnetic hard drives, CD and DVD reader and writer drives, and other external storage devices compatible with Win98 operating systems used for general transfer of data.

While a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) Driver comes with the releases of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems such as Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows ME, the Cypress USB Mass Storage Driver was built to work in particular with Windows 98 since it doesnt have its own MSC driver. The MSC Driver only offers basic functionality in communicating with mass storage devices through the USB host, which capabilities are completely satisfactory. But the Cypress USB Mass Storage Driver, alongside the file sm1nint.exe, offers more features available which include the following:

Supports the Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) Security feature set. This entail allows password protection to be set on an ATA device

Provides support for interrupt driven incidents

Allows the user to hide the device from the tray icon

Supports a feature for performance enhancement for high-speed devices

Allow the display of custom strings in the Device Manager

Issues additional commands while the application is being launched for a higher rate of device connectivity with Internet Standard Document (ISD)-200 and ISD-300 devices

Access to the options available through the driver is executed with the applications icon or the sm1nint.exe file. Upon right-click of the icon, a pop-up box will appear containing text, which is determined while the enumeration process from an identity command is done. When the mouse pointer is placed to the pop-up box, you should see the options Safely Remove, Protect, and Properties. The Protection selection will not appear if the connected drive doesnt support security features.
