Description:

The file sm1bg.exe is a small utility that runs as a background application for Cypress Universal Serial Bus (USB) Mass Storage Driver. The file is also installed as background task by drivers of other USB based hard disks and storage devices such as MP3 players. This program is equipped with the digital media player application iTunes and USB devices. The application can easily be downloaded as it appears after the installation of the file sharing program Napster.

The Cypress USB Mass Storage Driver is specifically designed for use with Windows 98 Operating Systems since Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP were released having built with USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) Driver but with more features to achieve functionality beyond what the MSC drivers can provide.

The process sm1bg.exe is able to record inputs from other devices, which makes the USB driver capable of downloading items from Napster and other file sharing services to portable MP3 players and other USB memory readers. This program also has a function of detecting whether there is an MP3 player or other media device to the USB port or not.
