Description:

The process saimon.exe functions with the application Saimon WriteDVD. This utility contains functions for setting up, running, testing and repairing recordable DVD media and drives for backup, archiving and general data that will be used for interchange and temporary storage of files. The program contains a Universal Disk Format (UDF) based file system DVD utility used in PCs.

Saimon WriteDVD contains a drive letter interface called Drag and Drop, which the saimon.exe process integrates with Windows Explorer. This interface is utilized to make the reading, writing or mastering to optical disc easy. It also allows copying, arranging and removing files volumes of DVD+R, DVD-R or CD-R and enables background formatting of DVD+RW, DVD-RW and CD-RW discs.

The Saimon WriteDVD software and the saimon.exe process also supports disc at once and track at once mastering, which is processed in a multi-session format, to sequentially record discs. Features such as packet writing to DVD+RW, DVD-RW and CD-RW discs and the blocking of addressable writing to discs in DVD-RAM format are also available in the program.

With an advanced, multi-thread structure, other applications can run while discs in any of the 3 formats are being mastered. Saimon WriteDVD also formats in all UDF versions for disk interchange with desktop operating systems such as UDF v1.0.2, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.0.1 and writes and reads video files in real time.

The saimon.exe file is also installed as a driver for joysticks from Saitek that are used in computer gaming. The file saimon.exe is loaded with the startup process of the system, entering the registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run in the system registry.
