Description:

The file safeoff.exe is a program which launches the SafeOFF utility. This program is part of the Microsoft Windows operating system. The process safeoff.exe or the SafeOFF utility is included on the Recovery CD that ships with IBM ThinkPad computers and a variety of notebooks.

The process safeoff.exe prevents accidental shutdowns. It protects the computer from being accidentally turned off. If the user accidentally pressed the power switch, a dialog box pops up to confirm the shutdown process. If the user selects No, the dialog box closes and the computer does not power off. If the user select yes, the computer will then automatically perform the Windows 98 shutdown process. The user can save opened files and close them safely. If the user chose none of these options, the safeoff.exe utility waits for 30 seconds before shutting down the computer.

The process safeoff.exe is one of the important utilities that come with ThinkPad computers for easy configuration. The other utility programs that come with IBM ThinkPad computers and a variety of notebooks are BIOS utility, Notebook Manager Program, Sleep Manager program and ShortCut Keys utility.
