Description:

The Aureal 3D technology was developed for use in Aureal Semiconductors Vortex range of products to deliver three-dimensional sound via headphones, two or even four speakers. A3D uses head-related transfer functions (HRTF) which are interpreted as spatial cues by the human ear.

The file sa3dsrv.exe is a program installed alongside the drivers for Aureal based 3D soundcards. It is an interactive audio utility, which handles audio routines for Aureal A3D soundcards. It operates on top of the low-level audio interface on the machine.

The process sa3dsrv.exe or the A3D Interactive Audio utility provides maximum performance in both areas of dimensionality and interactivity. It provides a full-features 3D audio system that is capable of defining three-dimensional spaces, positioning numerous sound sources along with the listener in 3D space while doing all of this in real time.

The sa3dsrv.exe process enhances the performance of Aureal based 3D soundcards. This program allows specifically created audio to react to user input and changes in the application environment. It supports all possible audio playback environments such as headphones, stereo speakers and multi-speaker arrays.

Aureal based 3D soundcard drivers works only for uniprocessor x86 machines. Aureal based 3D soundcards is based on the concept of HRTF which can be thought of as set of two audio filters that contains all the listening cues that are supplied to a sound as it travels from the sounds origin, through the environment and arrives at the listeners ear drums.
