Description:

The file rxmon9x.exe is a program launched by the application Dell Resolution Assistant which is a diagnostic tool that allows users to get in touch with Dell.

Dell Resolution Assistant or the rxmon9x.exe process communicates with a system called the Motive Server to accomplish several tasks. This Motive Server resides at the support provider's location that can be accessed by connecting to the Internet or to a corporate intranet. Motive Server provides problem resolution information for the user.

It is only when the user is connected to the Motive Server that he will be able to send service requests and receive information. When the user is disconnected from the Motive Server, or has gone offline, any initiated service requests or other communication are queued or reserved until the next time the user goes online. Nevertheless, the process rxmon9x.exe can be configured to operate exclusively offline.

Dell used to pre-install the process rxmon9x to assist them in performing hardware and software diagnostics and provide alerts regarding possible problems.

The rxmon9x.exe application uses TCP/IP ports to communicate with the Motive Server. A client polling method can be used if security concerns require that client machines deny direct port access from other machines.

In order to further assist the user, the support provider usually requires certain information about the user such as phone number, e-mail address, and current location. Now with the rxmon9x.exe process, the user can enter this information once. RA automatically includes it with each service request.
