Description:

The file realtimeupdate.exe is included in the basic installation package for all RealNetworks' products applications. Along with another library designated to determine typical date releases for new updates, the realtimeupdate.exe process is triggered by the earlier described file to conduct routine checks for the dependent application's entirety with the publisher's recent upgrades which can be found on the publisher's main Web site.

This process has the common description as Internet Explorer Communication Agent Module. Its updating function rides with the default Internet browser of the Windows to connect itself with the site upgrade address. Often, when an upgrade is available, the system would first let the user know of the existing new patches made available by the publisher. This is also to give the clients the option whether they would like to upgrade right away or to have the application upgraded some other time.

The settings on the realtimeupdate.exe files activity depend on the configuration set by the user in implementing upgrade checks. It also depends on the presence of the application's default automatic upgrade checkers. Depending on the users preference, upgrade detection can be started with the default method, which is automatic check, or manually, by disabling the automatic update checker.

The realtimeupdate.exe process begins to function when the automatic updater detects a new file from the system. Under manual setting, the realtimeupdate.exe process will only be summoned when the user requests for an update scanning from the developer's Web site. During the upgrading operation, which includes patch file downloading and installation, the realtimeupdate.exe process consumes a high percentage of the CPU usage, but after the updating process, the consumption rate snaps back to its normal operation tempo.
