Description:

The file rdtask.exe is a freeware program developed by Norm Steadman to convert excess memory into a virtual disk drive. The Virtual Hard Drive or RAM Drive allows users to create a virtual hard disk, using the system memory or RAM (Random Access Memory). This drive can do anything a normal hard drive can do, but will automatically be deleted when the computer's power is turned off -- a volatile quality of any system memory.

The rdtask.exe process is required to run at startup to allow the RAMDrive function to transform the system memory. The rdtask.exe is known to have a file size of 116Kb, and has a startup registry value under the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run\.

The rdtask.exe process has no visible window when it is executed in the system; but will, instead, work in the background and assist the execution file of RAMDrive. The application is executed in a DOS environment, which requires a corresponding number of inputs, depending on the volume of memory that needs to be converted into virtual form.

The number of virtual disk drives is limited to the total memory installed in your system. Each drive that results from the conversion will range from 1Kb to 32Mb, but none of their functions will be retained when the system is rebooted.

This is a safe process. There is no necessity to remove this process from your system or change it in any way.
