Description:
The file rcman.exe, a device-related software, was developed to simplify user interactions with Creatives MediaSource application. The software MediaSource allows users to organize, play, and transfer music files, like mp3, wav, wma, and other audio formats, in one framed user interface.
The rcman.exe process is executed without any visible user interface, and is considered as an option for users to utilize or not. When a remote control device is enabled into the system, either via Bluetooth or infrared, the rcman.exe process will detect it as soon as the MediaSource application is executed.
It will be able to monitor inputs from the user through the remote control device that will launch the functions of the application, as with playback functions, like play, stop, volume, previous, next, and so on. It is also possible to eject the CD/DVD drive with it.
The file rcman.exe can be installed, either as a separate application that can be downloaded from the Creative site, or from the bundled installer CD of the Creative Audigy sound card. The file will be included in the startup group and will have its own value found under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Run\ in the system registry.
The rcman.exe file has a total physical storage space requirement of 139,264 bytes. It can be disabled from the startup group, when there is no remote control device present to improve system performance, by freeing up valuable system resources (RAM, virtual memory, CPU usage)
