The Quicken.com Brokerage application includes the file qtask.exe to provide the Desktop Alerts function. The Desktop Alerts utility is a separate tool for the Quicken program. The main function of the file qtask.exe is to automatically alert the user with earnings announcements and other news. Users can also capture a large amount of relevant news stories and brokerage reports through the file qtask.exe. The alert feature of the file qtask.exe can be customized through the Quicken application.

Setting up the qtask.exe process can be done through the Quicken.com option in the Quicken Toolbar. At the Quicken.com screen, click Alerts in the top bar.
