Description:
The application qagent.exe was first introduced in the Quicken 99 program to serve the function of background downloading. The file is a separate utility and controls a process called Quicken Download Manager. When the qagent.exe file is activated, the information downloaded into Quicken is not the personal financial information related to the users account.
The Quicken Download Manager and the qagent.exe file options take advantage of unused bandwidth to download current financial information anytime the computer and the user are not actively downloading or uploading information. This function only takes place whenever the user deems it necessary. An example of this event would be when the Internet connection is active on the computer and the user is not actively downloading or uploading any data. The Quicken program uses the idle connection time to download financial information that would otherwise take time when the user downloads security quotes and other information into the Quicken program. This event usually happens when the Quicken application is not open.
There are several elements that the file qagent.exe downloads. These include:
What-if Scenarios
National Average Loan Rates
National Average Money Market Rates
National Average Certificate of Deposit Rates
National Average Checking Account Interest Rates
Financial Features
Tax Calendar Information
The file qagent.exe provides users with the time flexibility they need by downloading the mentioned information in the background. The data are already updated and do not need to be downloaded again when the user actively chose to download security quotes and other information.
The process qagent.exe and the Quicken Download Manager automatically activate upon installation of the Quicken program. The file qagent.exe places a red Q icon in the status area of the Windows system tray during activity. Additionally, the program provides a menu when the user right-clicks the red Q icon. The menu enables the user to start the Quicken program, as well as disables the processes of the qagent.exe file, until the system is restarted.
Recommendations:
This is a safe process. There is no necessity to remove this process from your system or change it in any way.
