Description:

The application qagent.exe was first introduced in the Quicken 99 program to serve the function of background downloading. The file is a separate utility and controls a process called Quicken Download Manager. When the qagent.exe file is activated, the information downloaded into Quicken is not the personal financial information related to the users account.

The Quicken Download Manager and the qagent.exe file options take advantage of unused bandwidth to download current financial information anytime the computer and the user are not actively downloading or uploading information. This function only takes place whenever the user deems it necessary. An example of this event would be when the Internet connection is active on the computer and the user is not actively downloading or uploading any data. The Quicken program uses the idle connection time to download financial information that would otherwise take time when the user downloads security quotes and other information into the Quicken program.
