PC-cillin 2002 features a firewall that protects the system against hackers or other invaders. It automatically scans incoming e-mail for harmful attachments and cloaks the computer from future possible trojan attacks.

Trend Micro's pccclient.exe process makes it possible for PC-cillin 2002 antivirus software to download and install security updates in the background. This process works in the background and checks for software updates on the Trend Micro website. It then downloads them in the background when there are some available. The process pccclient.exe requires reboots for certain classes of updates and it can automatically download and install both "Important" and "Recommended" updates. Flexible options are provided by the pccclient.exe process for completing the updating process.
