Description:
The file oim.exe is not a common process to be found within computers' central processing units (CPU) but more often within portable telecommunicating devices limited to a certain network's phone service or at least capable of accommodating the phone service, which has created the process itself.
Under the PCs, the file oim.exe can come along with related PC suites for the mobile phones. For the capable mobile phones, the process oim.exe comes installed within their systems as part of the device manufacturer's default systems package. The oim.exe process is a secure file, not related to any virus, adware or Trojan vectors. It is considered of safe usage both under computers and mobile phones.
The oim.exe process belongs to a certain network's services systems. It is the basic operating system embedded within mobile phones for those units made ready for accommodating signals and services from its developer network. Certain mobile units have various executables within the units operating system which caters to the desired network available. However, a phone installed with the oim.exe process is only limited for the O2 (formerly Genie) subscribers, only for mobile phones using the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) as the devices removable individual smart card for each user/phone.
The process oim.exe only supports SIM cards exclusive by O2 developers. An O2 exclusive phone will be unable to load its full features with a SIM card of a different network. Under an offline mode in case for smart phones, a unit would be able to load itself, however, the process oim.exe would be left not functioning since the SIM card infused does not posses the compatible configuration for the said application and device.
The oim.exe file is the major executable, which enables a certain device to receive services and signals coming from the O2 network. Though the oim.exe file is the major process which activates O2 network reception, it should not be mistaken as the main application for the unit itself which allows network signals to be received by the handy phone. It is only designed to cater to a specific network and not to the device itself.
Recommendations:
This is a safe process. There is no necessity to remove this process from your system or change it in any way.
