Description:
The netmsg.exe process runs in a computer as a small tool to send messages across the network by the use of the Windows Messenger Service, so you dont need to install another client messenger service to receive or send messages. The program has a number of other features as well. For instance, it can be used to receive any Windows pop-up conformable messages, broadcasts and NT Print Notifications in windows 9x or OS versions. Simply execute the netmsg.exe in a client machines or computer then it will run in the background and receive all Windows popup Messages. Since the file netmsg.exe has a very small size which only 4KB, it is only capable of receiving Network Messages but doesnt support the Sending Feature.
The process netmsg.exe can be very useful if you are an administrator or head of a company or business and want to send Network Messages to clients and vice versa. The file netmsg.exe also has a feature that can make you receive an Internet advertisement in a Messenger service window. If a computer that runs Windows with NWLINK, TCP/IP, and NetBEUI sends three broadcast messages to domain <00> then a user in the domain that runs all three protocols would receive three messages because of the netmsg.exe process.
Being a part of Windows Messenger Service the netmsg.exe handles requests to add, remove, or enumerate NetBIOS messaging names on a specified computer. In addition, Windows may use the process to inform you when a print job is completed or when you lose power to your computer and switch to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and displays the transmitted message on the recipient's desktop. The Messenger Service component requires the SVC host component and also a Terminal Services to properly display the message on the recipient's desktop.
