Description:
The Belkin Bulldog software is a useful tool in ensuring that the users computer is safe from problems caused by brownouts and similar power interruptions. Used with a UPS hardware, the Belkin Bulldog software closely monitors the voltage being received by the PC and switches to its internal battery when the voltage becomes too low or too high. In addition, the Belkin Bulldog software can also be used to shut down the computer properly should it detect a power loss. Other features of the Belkin Bulldog software include the option to receive e-mail notifications should there be expected power interruptions and a graphical interface through which the user can view the voltage amount to and from the UPS connected to the PC.
The Belkin Bulldog consists of a number of components that include the process mups.exe. The main purpose of the mups.exe process is to establish the link between the Bulldog software and the UPS. Hence, in order for the user to access the aforementioned features of the Bulldog software, the file mups.exe should always be enabled. The process mups.exe loads during Windows startup and communicates with .exe and .dll files within the Bulldog software and with a number of Windows system processes to complete its purpose. With regard to its usage of disk space, the file mups.exe takes up 49152 bytes. Furthermore, while it is active and performing its tasks, the file mups.exe requires a minimum of 400 kb worth of RAM resources.
There are a number of ways to optimize the use of the software housing the mups.exe process. First, the user should check if his UPS hardware is connected properly to his computer. Second, he must regularly test his internal battery to see if it can still provide sufficient power to the computer during brownouts.
