Description:

The mp_s3.exe file is a driver part of the hardware device for Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS) Audio Driver. It is the audio codec benchmark set by Silicon Integrated System mainly used for sound cards. It supports 96 kHz in stereo resolution of 20 bits and 48 kHz in multiple channels recording and playback of 20 bits.

The file mp_s3.exe when implemented delivers a standard definition audio that is capable of playing back more channels at higher quality. Audio settings are controlled by the process mp_s3.exe or in short SIS Audio control software and are in part installed along with the audio drivers for your audio card. Depending on your SIS Desktop board model, one of the following applications will also be installed:

Realtek AC'97 Audio Control Panel

Soundmax Audio Control Panel

All of these programs and software applications enable the user to conduct standard audio setting configurations such as audio port configuration, volume control, jack sensing, and speaker testing. It also offers advance features such as:

CD-in connector no longer required. Some SIS boards do not include CD-ROM connector; these include a digital audio solution, which does not require additional cable connectors between CD-ROM drive and the on board CD-ROM connector.

Using Sony/Philips Digital Interface (S/PDIF) (optical), an audio transfer format interface that allows the transfer of digital audio signals from one device to another without having to be converted initially to a signal in analog format that degrades audio quality.

Configuring 2-channel audio. The line out connector, located on the back panel, is specially designed to provide power only to the amplified speakers or the headphones. Low audio quality happens when passive non-amplified speaker is connected to this output.

Configuring 6-channel output. Installing audio driver from Silicon Integrated System enables the flexible, analog audio system. With the audio interface, the audio connectors of the back panel is able to support up to six speaker and are re-task able.
