Description:

The Gnutella Network is a peer-to-peer (P2P) system that supports sharing and searching of any file type. It is one of the core distribution tools on the Internet with client software that also acts as a server. The flagship client on Gnutella is Limewire, an Open Source Project in which the users act as the developers of the software. To expedite its research and development, the source and file-sharing codes are provided to the public for free.

The software Limewire houses the process limewire.exe. It installs an icon in the system taskbar that launches, minimizes, and restores the main interface. This icon also notifies you when downloads are finished, no matter what application youre in. The limewire.exe application automatically starts with the Windows boot process.

The newest version of the limewire.exe file is 1.0.0.2 installed alongside Limewire Pro 4.16. The new version of the program limewire.exe has a built-in support for BitTorrent, a protocol designed for transferring files in P2P format. It also supports Distributed Hash Table (DHT) integration which enhances the indexing capability and cohesiveness of the network, as well as provides better locations for rare files.
