Description:

The Logitech Wakeup Driver or the lgwakeup.exe process loads when the system is booted and starts monitoring the scanner. Whenever any document is placed in the scanner, the lgwakeup.exe process feeds a fraction of an inch into the scanner. The lgwakeup.exe process then launches the control center software. From the control center, the user can choose to fax, copy, or print the scanned documents.

If the user removes the Logitech wakeup process from startup, the lgwakeup.exe file will no longer launch the control center or feed the document. The user can manually launch the control center software via Start-up programs and still be able to scan images.

The lgwakeup.exe file controls the features that enable the scanner software to reproduce documents in a format that can be edited. The process lgwakeup.exe allows the capability of copying a scanned image to the printer icon, which results in a reproduction of a document. The lgwakeup.exe file enables the scanner to take pictures of a document in order to print it. The file lgwakeup.exe likewise supports a process called Optical Character Recognition (OCR) that allows it to reproduce text in a word processing application.

Additionally, when using the text icon, the lgwakeup.exe process allows the scanner to take a picture of a text document in order to subsequently issue it to the OCR software. The OCR software then attempts to determine the format of the characters on the page by zooming in on the document and studying the curves and lines of each character.

The lgwakeup.exe file is also shipped with the ImageWare software. There is a link to the file lgwakeup.exe in the PageScan program group in MS Windows.
