Description:

The EXE lexpps.exe is a core printer sharing process for Lexmark. It enables the user to share printers even with just a single network. It enhances Lexmarks color, multi-function and mono device offerings, which have been designed to help information flow more freely around an organization and allow processes to be managed more easily. The lexpps.exe file is also termed the Lexmark Printer Port Scanner.

The new products that starts-up on the lexpps.exe process enabling customers to print manage and move hard copy information around a network, as they would in soft copy include:

The C750, which uses the latest in single pass technology, is one of the fastest A4 sized color laser printers in the world. It is designed for workgroups and one-printer offices printing 20 pages per minute (ppm) in both mono and color.

The C910, targeting bigger work groups features wide A3 printing format, and offers a speed of 29ppm in both A4 mono and color.

The X820e MFP is known to have a network-centric type of printer foundation that also initiates on the lexpps.exe process. It prints 45ppm mono; features large format printing, reduces the costs for hardcopy output, plus it even improves document workflow. The X820e also integrates into the enterprise's directory and allows users to fax or email hardcopy documents to multiple people thru the lexpps.exe process.

The EXE lexpps.exe also has a background task that automatically loads with all the drivers of the printer. Its background task also enables the sharing of the Lexmark Z or X Series over a Windows peer-to-peer network using the conventional method of having a shared network printer set up. This means that without the lexpps.exe process, the user does not have the capability to have his printer shared while using the usual Windows method.

This task requires a comprehensive work. From having to interfere with the network card, to averting the computer from booting up, and until requesting permission from the Internet firewall for a self-installation as a server application. The first thing to do is to rename the lexpps.exe file to lexpps.exe.old. This will ensure that this task will never load. Instead, it will have all the problems, which networking may have caused, cured. If the user needs to network the printer over a peer to peer network, the printer needs to be installed on the users remote PC as a local printer. The user can then go to have the port changed from the usual local port and have the printer set up as network shared, as it was previously known to function as.
