Description:
The EXE ldiscn32.exe is an Inventory Scanner for Windows and is an integral part of the LANDesk Management Suite. The ldiscn32.exe process can run on a client basis so that an inventory scan will be generated and sent to the so-called LANDesk Management Suite Server Core. The ldiscn32.exe file can be called from either the Startup group, from the run registry key or from the LANDesk Local Scheduler.
The ldappl3.template and the ldappl3.reset identify the procedures that the file ldiscn32.exe should use during the inventory scan. These sub-files are used for scanner settings other than that of the software. The ldiscn32.exe process to reset Software License Monitoring on specific dates carries the ldappl3.reset.
The information changes in the template and software list since the base installation is also being carried by the ldiscn32.exe file within the ldappl3.pat together with the compressed version of the information in ldappl3.paz. The ldiscn32.exe process provides these sub-files to the LANDesk Management Suite when changes on the import of SLM or software Data are done to the original installation software list.
The ldiscn32.exe process uses the ldappl3.ini file embedded in its functions for full software scanning of its scan clients. The compressed version of the lsappl3.ini, which is the ldappl3.ldz, is used by the process ldiscn32.exe to compare date and time stamp to make sure that the ldappl3.ini on the client is the same data or the newer one on the core.
However, the ldiscn32.exe EXE will not update software even if a user has added items to the software list and made it available for clients to download. The scanner nonetheless, only scans for software once per day. If a software scan is desired every time a scan is run, you can open the tool for the Configure Services, which is by the console of the LANDesk Management Suite. Aside from this, you can also select the inventory tab, which can accomplish just that.
The process ldiscn32.exe is being initiated thoroughly on the actual client to generate a scan. The scanner then contacts the actual Core for the initialization in order to verify connectivity. Thus, it will subsequently complete a hardware scan. When the scanning of the hardware is completed, the clients ldappl3.ini is then compared to the ldappl3.ldz on the core. If the dates are the same or the file on the client is newer, it proceeds on with the software file it already has and finishes the scans software portion. It will eventually do the same or the whole scan process.
