The file keymap.exe is described as the Keymap and Message Box Service. The keymap.exe application is included in the Gigaset Talk & Surf software by Siemens AG for use with their Gigaset ISDN telephone products. The file keymap.exe enables keymap functions that are configurable by the user. The keymap.exe process is also responsible for aiding the Talk & Surf software to display message boxes.

A message box is a kind of dialog box that is used for displaying a message to the user. The message box displayed by the keymap.exe file consists of a significant icon and an explanatory text informing the user of a specific task that the Talk & Surf software would like to do. The message box will also contain either one or two buttons labeled cancel or accept (or other similar options), prompting the user to go on with the specified task or to abort the task.
