Kali is online gaming program that attained a major breakthrough in online gaming way before the advent of the software Gamespy. It was developed by the software engineering group Kali to provide gaming enthusiasts with fast, reliable and flexible game browsing system.
The EXE kalibump.exe is integrated into the Kali software for online gaming. It contains functions that automatically bump up the priority of WinProxy, which results in improved game speed when using a SOCKS proxy. The application WinProxy is used to connect an entire LAN to the Internet through one IP address whereas SOCKS is an Internet protocol that allows client-server applications to use servers of a network firewall transparently. By running the process kalibump.exe, WinProxy is forced to give priority to the online game over the SOCKS protocol.
The Kali software is capable of browsing all Internet game servers for available games. It then filters the game server connections to get the game the user prefers or chooses. At the same time, it can seek multiplayer games and launch this so that online gamers can play with other players connected to a home or office local area network, or even other players connected to the Internet. The application is integrated with a Scan for Games option in the games menu, which tells Kali to search all local, drives to find any games. This option runs by default on setup of Kali software. When users choose among the resulting list of games after scanning through the Internet, the kalibump.exe process then uses the SOCKS proxy to connect, but is only able to do this by bumping off or sweeping through the WinProxy to get a connection.
Each game included in the Game resources list and executed by Kali can have its own icon. Kali assigns an icon for each game and gives it a filename with an .ico file extension.
By taking advantage of the functions of the kalibump.exe, the WinProxy becomes available for Kali to automatically detect DirectPlay games, which are usually included in Kalis default Game Resources list. Additionally, if the user has an existing LAN game that Kali does not support, Kali can be setup to test or play this game. This can be done by simply clicking on the add custom game from the games menu and entering the following data: the name of the game, description of the game, program path of the game, including the EXE file it uses, and the command line arguments, if theres any.
The process kalibump.exe is initiated on the Kali Software on start-up.
