Description:

The javaw.exe file is a Java command line tool that is very identical with the java.exe process. The only difference is that the javaw.exe process launches a Java application without an associated console and command prompt window where it will appear. When it starts a Java runtime environment, the javaw.exe file does not display the version with the command version because it has no console to display it on. Should there be failure when it launch, the javaw.exe file will display a dialog box where error information will appear.

The Java 2 Platform Standard Edition also knows the javaw.exe process as the Java Launcher. This process works with popular browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, and other web browsers.

The Java2 Platform allows you to develop java applications that can be deployed on desktops and servers. It includes classes that can support the Java Web Services development and the provision of Java Platform EE foundation. Many other programs such as Macromedia HomeSite, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Yahoo SiteBuilder, Quickbooks, IBM Rapid Restore, and many more utilize The Java 2 Platform.
