Description:

The file ipw.exe is a software update of the Actiontec Internet Phone Wizard driver. It should be noted, file ipw.exe is only compatible to blue Internet Phone Wizard units that were sold after January 1, 2005.

Actiontecs Internet Phone Wizard acts as a translator between the analog phone system, and the digital VoIP line. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is the technology that allows users to make and receive Internet calls for free. Actiontecs Internet Phone device allows users to make and receive Internet calls over a regular phone while still being able to use the same phone to make and receive landline calls. This removes the hassle of needing a headset and a microphone when making and receiving Internet calls. This is especially beneficial to users who are not well acquainted with the technology.

There are two sets of instructions in installing the file ipw.exe. The first set is intended for users who have installed the drivers, and related application for the Internet Phone Wizard; an update on this driver is the action needed. The file ipw.exe should be downloaded on the users computer. Double click on the file to begin its installation. Clicking on the install button will start the updating process. The drivers downloaded during this update will be stored in the destination folder that is indicated on the Install window. Simply follow the instructions to complete the update process.

The second set of instructions for installing the file ipw.exe is intended for users who are re-installing the device. It is needed that the ipw.exe is already downloaded on the users computer. Double click the file to start the installation. On the pop up window, specify a folder to extract the device drivers and applications. Click on the Install button to begin with the installation process then simply follow the instructions to complete the installation process. After completing the installation, the Internet Phone Wizard device should be plugged in to the computer. This will be detected and a Found New Hardware Wizard will pop up. On this window, select the option to search for a driver, specify the location and click on next. After this installation, the Internet Phone Wizard will be ready for use.
