Index searching is one of the many capabilities of the PaperPort Scanner Module from ScanSoft. This application is executed using the process indexsearch.exe.

The PaperPort application is a desktop document management solution designed for working with scanned papers, PDF files and digital documents. It is a desktop product that can be used for creating PDF files generated by a document scanning device. It supports both local and network scanning and allows for direct conversion of scanned documents into digital files.

The process indexsearch.exe is an enhanced feature of PaperPort that provides easy and manageable index searching for scanned documents. It executes search controls so that users can find any document or photo by just typing in a word or phrase. Also, with PaperPorts capability to create thumbnails of scanned pages, getting the searched file can be done in no time.

Related to the function of the indexsearch.exe application is PaperPorts ability to jump from folder to folder fast. This is because PaperPort no longer stops in one folder to refresh document thumbnails but immediately jumps to another folder for advanced search. The improved text recognition utility integrated in PaperPort has also made search results highly accurate and comprehensive. PaperPorts OCR accuracy has been upgraded to 40%. This means that the indexsearch.exe process can do all-in-one search indexing. In addition, higher OCR accuracy produces high quality editable text from paper documents.

An innovative feature of PaperPort is its PDF-MRC high compression technology. It has adopted an advanced PDF file format that is completely compatible with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is up to eight times smaller than the regular scanned color PDF files, thus making it perfect for users who want to share multiple page color documents via email.
