The file igfxpers.exe, also called Intel Graphics Persistence Module, is a process installed alongside NVidia video cards and Intel graphics chipsets. It is a part of the Intel Common User Interface Application and often installed together with the igfxtray.exe process, an Intel graphics tray process which gives easy access to the graphics configurations of these devices.

Most Intel motherboards with integrated video have the program igfxpers.exe as part of its driver installation package. This process enables simple resolution changes such as changing the desktop graphics modes or running your video-based Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) at scaled display resolution. The igfxpers.exe process also sets various options on the Intel graphics chips.

The file igfxpers.exe uses a considerable amount of memory when running as a background task. Even if you want to reclaim RAM resources that the program igfxpers.exe is using, do not delete it from your operating system if you have Intel video cards or NVidia graphics cards installed.

The igfxpers.exe process contains string entries of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ CurrentVersion\ Run found in the system registry. These are important registry values for they enable the igfxpers.exe application to run on startup. The file igfxpers.exe is a trustworthy file from Microsoft Corporation. It has been issued a digital certificate from a trusted source.

Because it is a part of a device driver from Intel, the program igfxpers.exe does not have a visible program and runs only as a background task with its icon installed in the system tray. It monitors events done by the user, records data inputs and manipulates other programs.

Intel Corporation invented the series of microprocessors found in most personal computers. It is the worlds largest manufacturer of semi-conductors, motherboard chipsets, network cards, graphics chips and other devices related to computing and communications.
