Description:
Another utility for cleaning up temporary Internet files is the ietsr.exe process found in IEClean software from Privacy Software Corporation.
The process ietsr.exe is used to execute deletion of cookie files and clean-up the cache folder to free up valuable disk space as well as ensure user privacy. As a component of IEClean, the ietsr.exe file provides comprehensive cookie management. With this functionality, the user is given the choice on what cookies to keep and what to delete. It can also block receipt of all or selected cookies and turn cookie warning on or off. This way, only beneficial cookies are allowed to be stored in the cookie folder while IE Clean automatically removes the rest.
Newer versions of the IEClean software enable users to control their email, which is stored in the hard disk and takes up space. Unwanted e-mails or files that have been moved to the trash folder are only completely deleted by IEClean only if the user so chooses. IEClean, however, can be enabled to perform automatic removal of files in the trash folder.
The ietsr.exe file is also used in IEClean as a spam blocker. It does this by implementing the alias ID, which it assigns to the user to foil spam harvesters from getting a valid email address where they send junk emails to. The IE Clean enables users to switch back and forth between real names and real email addresses and alias identities chosen by the user. Having an alias ID proves beneficial to the user whenever a web site causes him to submit a form, sign a guestbook or download a treat to match up cookies with the user identity. The alias ID will be able to frustrate tracking as well as keep off any new spam lists.
The IEClean software was designed not only as a utility to free up disk space but most importantly as a tool to ensure online privacy. Deleting information that accumulates on the computer every time the browser is turned on is a way of ensuring user privacy. This goes beyond what users manually do when deleting from the Recycle bin, which actually does not delete 100% of the files but merely deletes the markers that point to where on the hard drive the file is stored. Moreover, potential privacy invaders can easily track downloaded files, applications used or recent web sites visited. What the developers of IE Clean promises are that it offers reliable privacy and security utility beyond freeing up wasted hard disk space.
