The process ieboot6.exe is a system cleaner application specifically designed for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The process ieboot6.exe initializes cleaning tasks at startup. The IE Clean application performs various functions intended to clean up the system from malicious or unnecessary files. It cleans up the cookies history, the recycle bin, the temporary folder and the Internet cache.
The ieboot6.exe program also allows users to selectively clean recorded inputs of various Usenet newsgroups visited by the user from internal databases in MS Internet Explorer. In newer versions of IE, the specific text of the actual messages read by the user can be recorded including the binary attachments. By using the IE Clean, a large amount of disk space can be freed, often in the tens of megabytes.
By default, the IE Clean application removes the data found in the Trash folder in case the user wants to get rid of the data. It also provides users with the option of adding and configuring different mail folders via the programs settings intended for automatic removal. In order to efficiently manage valuable disk space as well as remove traces of various sites the user had visited, the IE Clean can also purge the history database on Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer uses the history database so users can move from site to site by hitting the back and forward buttons. Another way of freeing up disk space is by purging the cache database. This is where all the images, scripts and other items from web sites as well as the actual web pages are recorded. The IE Clean can eliminate the cache data and their database indexes.
The ieboot6.exe application also executes URL window clean-up. The URL window in Internet Explorer allows users to pull down a list of the last 10 to 20 sites that have been visited. While convenient, the URL window can create an opportunity for invasion of privacy. The Internet Explorer keeps the information from URL Windows in the window registry, which makes it difficult to clean up. The IE Clean is capable of cleaning up the web site listing created on the URL window to ensure maximum privacy for the user.
Another feature of the IE Clean for Internet Explorer is the removal of entire Bookmarks and Favorites listings, which is useful for shared computers. The user can optionally activate this feature. The IE Clean also offers an option to clean out the list of recently viewed documents on the Star button of Windows95 or Windows NT.
