The icnkeeper.exe process executes the Enterra Icon Keeper which is a utility for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. This solution lets you arrange your icons in your computer. The icnkeeper.exe file allows users to modify placement of icons which are small pictograms that represent files, folders and applications. It may also represent a command, process and mood signals or indicators. Icons are used as an enhancement or visual aid for the computers standard alphanumeric nature and are widely used to assist computer users in interacting with the computer.

The icnkeeper.exe file lets you arrange these icons found in desktops, menus or toolbars. You can keep positions of icons in your desktop and also provide an interface for many sets of icons. These icon sets and positions may be stored in named profiles. The process icnkeeper.exe also opens to let you have access to profile management that lets you switch back and forth between profiles. If you shuffle your icons, these may be restored quickly as well. The Icon Keeper utility also enables quick restoration of your start-up lay-out.

Because of the many applications that a user may have on the system, the desktop is cramped and overloaded with icons.
