Description:
The file googledcc.exe that is also known as the Google Computing Client is a separately downloadable add-on for the Google Toolbar which allows participation in a distributed computing project that is helpful to scientific research. It started on a limited basis in March 2002 and ended in October 2005.
The process googledcc.exe or Google Compute Client is common to its function to enable the computer user by helping in solving challenging scientific problems every time the computer would seem idle. When the application googledcc.exe is set to Google Compute, the computer will download a small piece of a large research problem. It will then perform calculations on it, as it is also included with the results from thousands of other computers. But Google Compute is only available for the English language version of the Google Toolbar.
The file googledcc.exe is unnecessary to run automatically when Windows starts. Since the application googledcc.exe usually runs infrequently, it is yet to be verified if it can be harmful to the computer. This is so that it can be started manually if needed. As a background process, the file googledcc.exe does not appear in any windows or indicate that it is functioning. The process also needs to connect to the Internet to function properly but it does not need to use the network.
Since the process googledcc.exe should only be present once you install the Google Toolbar with Google Compute client active, it is recommended that you turn it off by going to the browser whenever you find the file unnecessary. You can then click on the little double helix on the Google Toolbar, and click Stop Computing to disable it.
