The Claria advertising program by the Claria Corporation monitors your browsing habits and distributes the data back to the author's servers for analysis. The file gmt.exe is a process that is a part of this program.

The file gmt.exe is also a component ofGator. Gator is a program that helps you fill out a network forms and remember usernames and passwords of websites you often visit. When Gator is installed, you also agree to install parent company GAIN's AdServer software which may display pop-up, pop-under, and other types of advertisements. These advertisements, some by third parties, will flash at you according to your network browsing habits. This may be supervised through tracking cookies.

The application gmt.exe is installed with a number of freeware programs including several popular file sharing programs. Gator covers computer usage and web surfing behavior, including the URLs of Web pages visited by users and other criteria. This aims to target advertisements posted on demographics and lifestyle profiles. Gator profusely bombards your computer with advertisements that can appear as pop-up, floating ads, engrafted ads within a software application or as desktop icons and installed files.
