The gaim.exe program is a multi protocol instant messaging chat client upholding a variety of standards that correspond with the AIM, ICQ, MSN, Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, SILC, GroupWise Messenger, and Zephyr networks. The file gaim.exe is related to the application Pidgin from the Open Source Development Community.

The process file gaim.exe is not associated with the Microsoft Windows operating system. The program gaim.exe uses ports to connect to local area networks or the internet. Users can login to several accounts on different IM networks simultaneously. The gaim.exe process is active whenever the user is online, be it AIM, Yahoo, or IRC. The gaim.exe program runs on a number of platforms, including Windows, Linux, and other UNIX operating systems. The file gaim.exe also coordinates well with GNOME 2 and KDE 3.1s system tray as well as Windows own system tray. Libpurple is the programming library that powers Pidgin and Finch and is responsible for connecting to all the IM networks and for managing your accounts and preferences.
