Description:

The fast.exe file is a program file that is a component of Windows XP PowerToys. This particular process is also known as FastUser. The program file fast.exe gives the users the option of switching between computer users with a mere keystroke. The fast.exe process file serves as a fast user-switcher in the Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system.

The Windows operating system has allowed multiple users to use a computer unit. Each user can create their own personalized settings such as desktop wallpapers, screensaver, as well as the interface color scheme and sound events. Each registered user can also have a personalized set of desktop items and shortcuts available, as well as different degrees of control over the system settings. The only problem with user switching is the normal 2-3 minute delay when closing all running applications and almost shutting down the computer itself as this process is done.

When Windows XP was released, Microsoft incorporated the fast.exe process, wherein the above process is simplified.
